naturally nutty, that's me

I was one of the lucky winners of Averie's Naturally Nutty giveawayKatie of Naturally Nutty was kind enough to send the flavor of my choice, I chose the Cinammon Vanilla Sunflower Butter and OH MY GOSH is it delicious, I think I've had it at least twice each day since it arrived ;)  Hubby and I both love it, we've been eating it with cut apples, on Ezekiel sprouted english muffins, on celery logs in lunch, and yesterday I made our new favorite raw ball treats inspired by Averie's, this link will take you to a listing of all her ball recipes!  I just realized I haven't uploaded those photos so they'll be in the next post;)  Anyway the butter is so so good, I love that it's a little sweet from the vanilla powder (that's my secret sweetener too, ok that's not a secret!)

other cool stuff-
*it's organic
*it's made in small batches in my home state of MI
*it's packed in glass!  (a few years ago I was lucky to attend a talk with Dr. Udo at Wild Oats (remember WIld Oats??)  and he talked about when oils are packed in plastic the oil pulls the lead out of the plastic into the oil/food.
*it's power packed with omegas from flax and hemp seeds

She sent the full size jar too, thank you Katie!!!

and a bag of trail mix!  I snuck a few cherries out and sent the rest with Dave to work in his lunch, he gave it two thumbs up.

Locally, I know Arbor Farms Market stocks Naturally Nutty or visit their website here.

The current bulk buy is our trash bags.  We use these in the kitchen, bath and for the small litter waste bags (BioBags ).

My weekend trip to WF to shop and fill up a few spice jars I noticed a sign that said you get the case discount (10%) if you buy the 1 pound foil bag of spice/herb.  Two of the ones we were low on are cumin and chili powder which we use a lot of so another good find!

A recent green mud colored smoothie of spinach, dates, strawberries, banana, and blueberries with a gorgeous Glass Dharma straw.

I also picked up a jar of raw kraut to try.  I'm going to be making my first batch of raw sauerkraut soon, but thought it would be a good idea to try and see what it tastes like first since I've only had the cooked kind.

I've been inspired by these links:

It was going to top this salad, but....I can't get the jar open!  I know this sounds crazy, but we're still working on it ;)  Anyone have the same experience with it being difficult to open?  We've tried the knife under the lid trick, but it's not the seal.

Last week Mom and I went to the girls night out at Trend 440 to shop and visit with some friends and family.  I picked up a cute headband made by my cousin, she has her Etsy shop here.  Get ready for a perfectly executed photo...
